Freelance copywriting, proofreading and PR

Copywriting
Need wording for your website? Blogs for SEO? A speech for an event? Or a brochure to showcase what you do? Then leave the words to me. Having written everything from adverts to e-newsletters, business profiles to staff handbooks, I create content that guarantees clicks and conversions.
Public Relations
From my experience on the other side of the newsdesk I know how to pitch PR that secures column inches. I pride myself on storytelling that makes for a great press release, grabbing the attention of journalists, generating cuttings and validating the worth of your business.
Proofreading
Some get their kicks from going to the gym or drinking a barista-made coffee. I get mine from spotting typos. Whether your advert needs a pre-print check or your thesis a once over before submission, my passion for proofing led an old design colleague to nickname me “Hawkeye”.
"Sarah has consistently demonstrated exceptional expertise, dedication, and strategic thinking, making a significant impact on our organisation's reputation and success. She excels at crafting compelling narratives and engaging content that resonates with our target audience, leading to increased brand recognition and a strong positive reputation."

Words about me...
Growing up a compulsive reader, diary writer and spelling geek, I headed to Durham for a degree majoring in literature. A Cardiff post-graduate diploma in newspaper journalism followed, gaining me NCTJ prelims, a diverse portfolio and a husband.
The latter and I moved to London, where I spent two years with a news agency. Highlights included falling over in front of Boris Johnson whilst interviewing him in a builders’ yard, and serving Liam Gallagher his Sunday roasts during pub shifts I took to pay my rent.
Returning to Cardiff I jumped back into print as Editorial Co-ordinator for two Welsh magazines, quizzing celebrities and managing photo shoots.
Back north by 2013 I was with ITC Travel Group for six years as Copywriting Executive, before two kids and an unexpected visit to ICU inspired a move into freelance.
And the rest, to quote Six, is “her-story”.
Working predominantly with B2C brands that support sustainable practices, have a unique offering and don’t take themselves too seriously; I freelance for businesses I can champion. In fact, I was first introduced to many of my clients as their customer.
Home is Cheshire, and sometimes Pembrokeshire. And when I’m not writing you’ll find me parenting, gardening and swimming.
Communicating your message and connecting with your audience through storytelling; that’s my promise as your freelance copywriter.
I have a decade’s copywriting experience, underpinned by six years in journalism. Now freelance with Put In A Good Word, I create content that engages, informs and inspires. I find the angle that makes your business stand out, and deliver copy that supports SEO, generates sales and secures media mentions.
